Open passage
Evening Hymn with Nature.
Open passage
1To Thee, my God! to thee I bring
Open passage
The evening's grateful offering;
Open passage
From thee, the source of joy above,
Open passage
Flow everlasting streams of love;
Open passage
And all the rays of light that shine,
Open passage
And bless creation, Lord! are thine.
Open passage
2The morn, when stepping down the hills--
Open passage
The noon, which all creation fills
Open passage
With glory; evening's placid fall,
Open passage
The twilight and the raven pall
Open passage
Of midnight; all alike proclaim
Open passage
Thy great, thine all impressive name.
Open passage
3And from the little worm, whose light
Open passage
Shines palely through the shades of night,
Open passage
Up to the sparkling stars that run
Open passage
Their evening rounds--or glorious sun,
Open passage
Rolling his car to twilight's rest--
Open passage
All, all in thee is bright and blest.
Open passage
4And over all--above, below,
Open passage
We see thee--ever-present thou!
Open passage
In every wandering rill that flows,
Open passage
In every gentle breeze that blows;
Open passage
In every rising, setting sun,
Open passage
We trace thee--own thee--holy One!
Open passage
5Yes! in the mid-day's fervid beams,
Open passage
And in the midnight's shadowy dreams,
Open passage
In action and repose, we see,
Open passage
We recognize and worship thee;
Open passage
To thee our worthiest songs would give,
Open passage
And in thee die, and to thee live.
