Open passage
Then Ráma, like the lotus eyed,
Open passage
Descended from the mountain side,
Open passage
And to the Maithil lady showed
Open passage
The lovely stream that softly flowed.
Open passage
And thus Ayodhyá's lord addressed
Open passage
His bride, of dames the loveliest,
Open passage
Child of Videha's king, her face
Open passage
Bright with the fair moon's tender grace:
Open passage
“How sweetly glides, O darling, look,
Open passage
Mandákiní's delightful brook,
Open passage
Adorned with islets, blossoms gay,
Open passage
And sárases and swans at play!
Open passage
The trees with which her banks are lined
Open passage
Show flowers and fruit of every kind:
Open passage
The match in radiant sheen is she
Open passage
Of King Kuvera's Naliní.373
Open passage
My heart exults with pleasure new
Open passage
The shelving band and ford to view,
Open passage
Where gathering herds of thirsty deer
Open passage
Disturb the wave that ran so clear.
Open passage
Now look, those holy hermits mark
Open passage
In skins of deer and coats of bark;
Open passage
With twisted coils of matted hair,
Open passage
The reverend men are bathing there,
Open passage
And as they lift their arms on high
Open passage
The Lord of Day they glorify:
Open passage
These best of saints, my large-eyed spouse,
Open passage
Are constant to their sacred vows.
Open passage
The mountain dances while the trees
Open passage
Bend their proud summits to the breeze,
Open passage
And scatter many a flower and bud
Open passage
From branches that o'erhang the flood.
Open passage
There flows the stream like lucid pearl,
Open passage
Round islets here the currents whirl,
Open passage
And perfect saints from middle air
Open passage
Are flocking to the waters there.
Open passage
See, there lie flowers in many a heap
Open passage
From boughs the whistling breezes sweep,
Open passage
And others wafted by the gale
Open passage
Down the swift current dance and sail.
