Open passage
Then Khara, by his sister pressed,
Open passage
Inflamed with fury, gave his hest
Open passage
To twice seven giants of his crew,
Open passage
Fierce as the God of death to view:
Open passage
'Two men equipped with arms, who wear
Open passage
Deerskin and bark and matted hair,
Open passage
Leading a beauteous dame, have strayed
Open passage
To the wild gloom of Daṇḍak's shade.
Open passage
These men, this cursed woman slay,
Open passage
And hasten back without delay,
Open passage
That this my sister's lips may be
Open passage
Red with the lifeblood of the three.
Open passage
Giants, my wounded sister longs
Open passage
To take this vengeance for her wrongs.
Open passage
With speed her dearest wish fulfil,
Open passage
And with your might these creatures kill.
Open passage
Soon as your matchless strength shall lay
Open passage
These brothers dead in battle fray,
Open passage
She in triumphant joy will laugh,
Open passage
And their hearts' blood delighted quaff.”
Open passage
The giants heard the words he said,
Open passage
And forth with Śúrpaṇakhá sped,
Open passage
As mighty clouds in autumn fly
Open passage
Urged by the wind along the sky.
