Project Gutenberg EPUB3 edition Valmiki and Griffith, Ralph T. H. (Ralph Thomas Hotchkin)
Open passage
Now would the bright-eyed lady choose
Open passage
Some gorgeous bud with blending hues,
Open passage
Now plucked the mango's spray, and now
Open passage
The bloom from an Aśoka bough.
Open passage
She with her beauteous form, unmeet
Open passage
For woodland life and lone retreat,
Open passage
That wondrous dappled deer beheld
Open passage
Gemmed with rich pearls, unparalleled,
Open passage
His silver hair the lady saw,
Open passage
His radiant teeth and lips and jaw,
Open passage
And gazed with rapture as her eyes
Open passage
Expanded in their glad surprise.
Open passage
And when the false deer's glances fell
Open passage
On her whom Ráma loved so well,
Open passage
He wandered here and there, and cast
Open passage
A luminous beauty as he passed;
Open passage
And Janak's child with strange delight
Open passage
Kept gazing on the unwonted sight.
