Open passage
Wherewith fierce Rávaṇ's son, renowned
Open passage
For magic arts, your limbs had bound.
Open passage
Those arrows fixed in every limb
Open passage
Were mighty snakes, transformed by him.
Open passage
Blood thirsty race, they live beneath
Open passage
The earth, and slay with venomed teeth.
Open passage
On, smite the lord of Lanká's isle,
Open passage
But guard you from the giants' guile
Open passage
Who each dishonest art employ
Open passage
And by deceit brave foes destroy.
Open passage
So shall the tyrant Rávaṇ bleed,
Open passage
And Sítá from his power be freed.”
Open passage
Thus Garuḍ spake: then, swift as thought,
Open passage
The region of the sky he sought,
Open passage
Where in the distance like a blaze
Open passage
Of fire he vanished from the gaze.
Open passage
Then the glad Vánars' joy rang out
Open passage
In many a wild tumultuous shout,
Open passage
And the loud roar of drum and shell
Open passage
Startled each distant sentinel.
