Open passage
Sabbath Hymn with Nature.
Open passage
1King of the world! I worship thee:
Open passage
Lord of the mind! the Sabbath's thine:--
Open passage
A contrite heart, a bended knee,
Open passage
To-day shall be my corn, my wine.
Open passage
A choral song for sacrifice
Open passage
Will mount as fire, and heavenward own
Open passage
The green-leaved earth, through joys and sighs
Open passage
A satellite round Mercy's throne.
Open passage
2The moon comes up to wake the dew,
Open passage
And hang a star on every leaf;
Open passage
The sun can take a rainbow hue,
Open passage
To kiss away the meadow's grief;
Open passage
The wave will lay its buoyance by,
Open passage
To let the cloud take anchor there;
Open passage
Earth, through her flowers, salutes the sky;
Open passage
The sky meets earth in balmy air.
Open passage
3And I was born to see and say
Open passage
How beauty beams, without, within:
Open passage
From the fly, made to gild a day,
Open passage
To my own soul, outliving sin.
Open passage
Even now I feel thy cherubim
Open passage
Have come to me from thee, All-wise!--
Open passage
Then, Silence, thou shalt be my hymn,
Open passage
And thought, my only sacrifice.
