When wisest Vishṇu thus had given
Open passage
His promise to the Gods of heaven,
Open passage
He pondered in his secret mind
Open passage
A suited place of birth to find,
Open passage
Then he decreed, the lotus-eyed,

In four his being to divide,
Open passage
And Daśaratha, gracious king,

And many an ornament divine;
Open passage
A towering mountain in his height,
Open passage
A tiger in his gait and might.
Open passage
No precious mine more rich could be,
Open passage
No burning flame more bright than he.
Open passage
His arms embraced in loving hold,
Open passage
Like a dear wife, a vase of gold
Open passage
Whose silver lining held a draught
Open passage
Of nectar as in heaven is quaffed:
Open passage
A vase so vast, so bright to view,
Open passage
They scarce could count the vision true.
Open passage
Upon the king his eyes he bent,
Open passage
And said: “The Lord of life has sent
